Click on Dashboard!

WordPress

I complained a few blog posts ago that WordPress.com redesigned their layout and how it was awful. Writing posts became a chore, a word count display was missing, saving drafts took more steps than necessary, and tags were a nightmare. I found out that the new design wasn't a replacement, but a new feature!

When you enter WordPress and find your site, click on Dashboard and everything is back to normal. LOLWUT! I'm honestly baffled at the decision to obscure the old layout. It takes a little getting used to, but it works well. Why try and sell me on an inferior design and then try and obscure the dashboard from me? I don't get it.

My decision to leave WordPress.com has not changed. WordPress.com doesn't offer the features I want, and it will be a matter of time before the new layout becomes the only layout. I am deeply considering going back to Blogspot, a service I left for WordPress.com because I wanted more out of a site. Blogspot will even save me money as there is no ridiculous $15 a year fee for linking to my own domain; it's free, just go to Blogspot's option and connect.

I hope this notice helps out others who are having a tough time handling their site.
